Chapter 35

Beliak’s expression seemed to say, “Of course.” He was very relaxed, as if everything was all set up and nothing would change.

Black Glasses looked at the pale female corpse in the ancient coffin, which was now completely blackened and had turned to charcoal, and asked, “I’m not related to Yuri’s family. Will sacrificing me really work?”

“You don’t have to hide it. I know you had an affair with Yuri’s sister,” Beliak said as he looked at the surrounding room. “It’s very sensitive to sacrifices and will always linger around them. Don’t you think that stench is particularly obvious around you?”

Black Glasses looked at Beliak calmly as the other man continued, “The moment you entered the house, I noticed that the stench in the house instantly thickened. That’s when I knew that it was you.”

“I noticed that too,” Black Glasses said. “It suddenly started to stink.”

But it wasn’t caused by me, he said to himself. The moment he saw Zheng Jingyin, he noticed that the stench began to thicken in the air. He really didn’t want to go the whole way with him so that was why he went off on his own. It turned out that the stench was due to Xingchou finding an offering.

Beliak had made a mistake. He didn’t realize that Zheng Jingyin was actually the offering. Maybe it was because he was more familiar with Zheng Jingyin and never thought that a subordinate like him would actually have an affair with his employer’s daughter. This man was in his blind spot.

But Black Glasses had already noticed it when he saw Yuri’s body because the stench was also very strong around the corpse.

It was enjoying the offering in an incomprehensible way.

“When I realized that the offering wasn’t totally effective, I began to realize that there should be one person missing. No matter how much I thought about it at that time, I could only think that Yuri’s younger sister had gotten married. But then I asked about it and heard that there was a thug by the old lady’s side who was having an affair with Yuri’s sister. I just didn’t expect you to come right away.” Beliak leaned against the wall as if he couldn’t stand anymore.

“A thug?” Black Glasses also lit a cigarette and sighed.

So, he looked more like a thug than Zheng Jingyin.

Beliak looked at Black Glasses with an admiring expression on his face, “Still not flustered at all. You’re definitely not an ordinary person.”

Black Glasses pulled a rotten fish out of his pocket and threw it to the ground, “I figured you had to determine who the sacrifice was by smell so I put some rotten fish in my pocket.”

Beliak remained silent.

Miles away, Xie Yuchen pulled out an empty perfume bottle that had been tucked into Zheng Jingyin’s shirt collar. He didn’t know from which pile of junk Black Glasses had found it in, but the older man had poured the contents onto Zheng Jingyin’s neck while he was holding him in a bear hug earlier. Xie Yuchen rolled down the window to air out the car and then threw the bottle out as well.

Black Glasses started stretching, “You must be very powerful if you’re able to summon an evil god.” Then he laughed, “Do you think my eyes are the only things that are especially good at night?”

Beliak continued to remain silent, but his expression twisted and became sinister as he started to realize that he had been tricked.

“Come on, I have a few other questions I want answered,” Black Glasses said. Beliak started to reach for something at his waist, but in the next instant, Black Glasses was suddenly standing in front of him, so fast that he couldn’t understand how it was possible.
