Chapter 68 Long Person

At this time, Chen Pi Ah Si immediately understood one thing, that is, the reason why Ah Bai Xiang was so scared when he saw Ah Xi return.

When Chen Pi Ah Si saw Ah Xi himself, the other man had already become a crazy fool, but when Ah Bai Xiang saw him in the heavy rain, Ah Xi must have looked like he did now.

In other words, a “long person”.

Ah Xi may have had a very long body hiding behind a bush at that time, just like a snake that had not yet fully matured.

Ah Bai Xiang naturally wouldn’t approach upon seeing such a strange situation, especially because it was too unbelievable, and they had never encountered something like this during all their time robbing tombs.

What kind of power could make a person’s waist so long? This was almost like a monster revealing its true form.

By the time Chen Pi Ah Si had gone over to him, Ah Xi returned to normal. With Ah Bai Xiang’s character, although he found it strange, he wouldn’t doubt whether he was mistaken or not. But he wouldn’t become hysterical and insist on telling others what he saw. Instead, he would merely keep his distance and observe.

To be honest, even if he had told them about what he saw, no one would have believed him.

At this time, the Ah Xi he saw hanging upside down and turning his head to look at him was completely inhuman. The people behind Chen Pi Ah Si saw this and started to panic, and someone even wanted to climb up to the bridge deck.

“You can’t go on the bridge! Ah Xi became like this after walking on the bridge!” Chen Pi Ah Si yelled angrily. Then he turned to Ah Xi and said, “Speak, what’s wrong with you?”

Ah Xi’s eyes swiveled toward him in a way that normal human eyes didn’t. Jiwei couldn’t see the situation at all, so she followed closely behind Chen Pi Ah Si. At this time, Chen Pi Ah Si found that Ah Xi wasn’t looking at anyone but himself.

The situation was so strange that Chen Pi Ah Si sucked in a sharp breath, took a second to calculate, and then immediately decided what he was going to do.

He’d have to do a reverse corner fold. This was a move that ordinary people couldn’t do because it required very special waist ligaments and bones, but he was what they called a “hua qian”; his waist was many times more flexible than that of normal people.(1)

He would make a move first and expose his flaws. If the opponent was aggressive, they would attack him immediately, but what they didn’t know was that he could contort his body to fold at an extremely tricky angle and dodge the incoming blow. At the same time, he would take his pineapple knife in a reverse grip and launch a counterattack.

Countless people had died after encountering this move.

Coming to a decision, Chen Pi Ah Si immediately moved, but Ah Xi didn’t attack. Instead, he very slowly leaned his body forward.

It was an incredible sight seeing Ah Xi’s upside-down face leaning forward while his body hung upside down, just like a snake.

As everyone started to dodge, Chen Pi Ah Si shot an iron pellet straight at Ah Xi’s forehead. Ah Xi twisted his head away from the blow and then slowly turned back.

Then, a sound came from Ah Xi’s throat, which seemed to be a human voice.

“Come up.”

At least, that was what it sounded like. Then, Ah Xi continued to approach. Jiwei slowly pulled Chen Pi Ah Si back and said in his ear, “This man is so long.”

“I thought you were blind?”

“I can sense it,” Jiwei said.

“Are you relying on your ears?”

“No. The way I see is very special,” Jiwei said. “On the bridge…there’s a sound on the bridge.”

“What is it?”

Jiwei didn’t answer, but she carefully raised her head and seemed to be looking at something.

TN Notes:

(1) Throwback to Chapter 20 of Chen Pi’s extra. “Hua qian” is a slang term for people with God-given talents. They have quick hands, good ears, and good eyes which help them see their opponents’ flaws. Basically a certified badass.

I’ve been thinking it since she appeared, but I wonder if she’s the one who taught Chen Pi how to see once he became blind? Which means she probably lived pretty long considering her association with him…

  1. Ohhh that’s an interesting idea. It could explain some things

Thank you for the chapter. I wasn’t expecting one so fast

  2. Hmmm, I wonder if this guy is like the Long Immortal from the Thousand Faces story? Or — I think there were some extra long, tall people turning up near the end of the Southern Archive thread…

Maybe Jiwei went back to her temple, after, and that’s why no-one’s heard of her since then? But yeah, sounds like she might have taught the technique.
