Chapter 6.20 Li Cu’s Obsession (Extra)

Any kind of conflict would create a lose-lose situation, especially after Li Cu took refuge with Xiao Canglang. For him, he needed a simple and controllable master. That was why Xiao Canglang’s fame had risen so recently. It had all been orchestrated by Li Cu. Xiao Canglang probably didn’t even know what was going on around him.

And Li Cu also needed an older backer so that he could avoid all the trouble brought about by his young age. This boy was really too similar to me, but unfortunately, he became obsessed at such a young age. He firmly believed that his father was still alive and wanted to find him so that he could ask him about all the things from that year. I couldn’t help him because he wanted to do it on his own.

If it were me, this obsession would have to be let go sooner or later. But he was still young and thought that the future was infinite and there was still time. He thought that my letting go was a sign of cowardice.

Like me, he got deeper and deeper in the wrong world for the wrong reasons, so his faults were also my responsibility.

To sum it up, Little Brother Zhang and the others didn’t need to face Xiao Canglang if they wanted to get that prescription. They needed to face Li Cu. After several years, he was still a rash boy who didn’t know how to adapt, but his cleverness made it impossible for me to manipulate him with mere talk.

“Do you have nothing else to do?” I asked him slowly as I looked at the photos.

“I have what you want, right?” Li Cu laughed, “I actually have something that Wu Xie can’t get? God has finally opened his eyes.”

“It’s not what I want, it’s what he wants.” I pointed to the photo, “You’d better make a deal with him. You’re both people who don’t give up until you reach your goal. Conflict is a waste of time.”

“You taught me before, remember?” He said as he looked at me. “Some people can make deals, while others can’t. I won’t conduct business with you, Wu Xie. It doesn’t matter if it’s you or your friends.”

I sighed. I really wanted to jump up and kick this stubborn child to death, but I was the one who made a mistake before, so I had to bear it. “Give me some terms that you can accept.”

“Tell me, where did my dad go?”

No one would appear in photos once they climbed to the top of the stone mountain in Gutong Jing (1). We found a stone room in the crevice there, and all those who entered it disappeared. I still didn’t know where they went. I didn’t have the courage to go in and chose to give up, but I didn’t tell Li Cu about it because I knew what he would do.

At that time, I needed him to do something important for me, so I ended up lying to him.

This selfishness was now constantly torturing me.

I didn’t answer him.

“Think it over. Either tell me, or I’ll call the police in the morning if I see these people still wandering around my area.” He stood up and looked at the pack of cigarettes on my desk. “You’ll die early if you keep smoking. If you want to die so badly, take my offer and then die.”

  1. Hahaha *bitter smirk*
Everybody is allergic to Li Cu, even the author.
For once, I’m okay with yet another unfinished story. It might have to do with watching the last three episodes of Ultimate Notes znd watching Dr Liang’s story of Xiaoge in the hospital from Wu Xie and Pangzi’s POV, and that moment in Gobi desert when Wu Xie gets to drink that unforgettable “goat dung water”… awww… it sorta reconciled me with the whole Sea Sand business.

Great and big thumbs up to Tiffany and you for pulling this enormous work to this point !!! I can’t wait to read RESTART (or should it be “The Ultimate” ? I’m starting to wonder if it’s just a mere coïncidence that the title sounds to my foreign brain so much like the word they use for Ultimate in the drama…) but I really want to thank you and praise you and do a silly but happy danse of happiness and gratefulness for you guys for giving us your words, for that incredible work you’ve done, for inviting us to be part of that amazing ride to Adventure!
Live long and prosper, and keep writing, dear, dear translators!

  2. Thats it? It a pitty that Li Cu doesn’t get to meet poker face and the Zhangs.. its not that i particularly like this edgy teen, but if he just see the caused of why Wu Xie drag him into this mess. He is annoying, but it’s also understandable why he is like that, and why Wu Xie is so carefull. Like black glasses said, he is Wu Xie bad karma

I m more sad that there should be a big adventure here. Something that touch the sensitif area of poker face friends expired date. It could be some fruitless journey like stagnan dragon adventure.. but it still means a lot, especially because this is the only way poker face could convey what he want to say

Anyway.. hurray and thank you to Merebear and Tiffany. You girls are awesome

LOL he’s basically telling Wuxie to stop smoking or he’s gonna kill himself.
Li Cu is like a tsundere young adult, he hates and loves Wuxie at the same time, their relationship is too complicated and even Wuxie understands that it was his fault that Li Cu’s life is a mess. I don’t want to blame Wuxie but the author should have let Wuxie cared more for Li Cu after all Li Cu can be regarded as Wuxie’s heir.

  5. honestly i didnt li cu at first in sand sea, at all, but after some episodes (and the book)it got better. It feels so weird that everyone seems to hate him here as i hated him in the past haha XD
I think i got somewhat confused because i dont rmbr what happened to his dad ? he just disappeared ?
If he “hated” him like in the series maybe he wouldnt look for him this much …
I feel bad now bc Wu xie lied hahahaha (wu xie you have so much influence!!!):”) poor Li cu
Thank you for this translation !! yall are doing amazing !!

  6. I don’t know why, but if Li Cu is Wuxie’s bad karma. Then he’s the person who’ll get into my nerves by just standing in front of Wuxie. Like, from the drama to here, I find him beyond annoying
